Changan is the number one selling car brand in China

As the world’s largest automobile market in terms of both supply and demand, China holds a significant position, and Changan stands out as the leader in sales rankings within the Red Dragon.

The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) projects a 5.4% growth in local automobile sales, reaching 27.5 million units in 2022. Among these, new energy vehicle sales are expected to grow by 47%, reaching 5 million units.

Amid this exciting landscape, Changan International Corporation (CIC) is among China’s top four homegrown auto manufacturers and ranks among the world’s top 15 automakers, with cumulative sales of 2,300,000 units and a 15% growth in 2021.

In the first two months of 2022, the Changan brand secured the top spot among China’s top 10 homegrown auto brands in terms of passenger car sales, impressively selling 0.22 million out of the 1.6 million units sold in China alone. Furthermore, in terms of overall domestic sales, Changan held the second position among the roster of China’s top auto groups, accounting for 0.33 million of the 2.2 million total units sold in the same period.

These outstanding sales achievements reflect the increasing customer satisfaction with the brand. In the 2021 JD Power China New Vehicle Initial Quality Study (IQS), Changan claimed the top spot in new vehicle quality among all other Chinese brands and ranked seventh among joint venture global brands and luxury brands operating in China. This marks the second time that Changan has led the JD Power China IQS, with the first achievement in 2018.

In addition, in 2017, CIC was recognized by the State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine Defective Products Management Center for having the lowest customer complaint ratio among the country’s joint venture and imported auto brands.

With a remarkable business tradition of over a century and a half and a solid foundation in research and development (R&D), Changan is dedicated to maintaining a consistent pursuit of vehicle quality. CIC allocates around 5% of its annual sales revenue to R&D and has established a global network spanning four continents, featuring expert engineering and design teams from 18 countries. Key centers include the Changan Automobile Global R&D Center in Chongquing, Yokohama for interior design, Turin for exterior styling, Birmingham for advanced engine design, and Detroit for chassis design and autonomous driving technologies. CIC is also a pioneer in the mass production of electric vehicles in China.
